Despite better consistency in the writing and a more challenging mystery to solve, Based On A True Story still falls a little flat compared to better series with similar concepts. Go to Full Review

While we still like seeing Cuoco and the rest of the cast of Based On A True Story, we’re still not buying that the Season 2 story will be as good as what we saw in Season 1. Go to Full Review

As a social satire, Based on a True Story Season 2 is far more sledgehammer than scalpel. But that’s the delight of it. Go to Full Review

The creative team’s mindset should be: Let’s deliver the best possible season... Or you could do what creator Craig Rosenberg does here: spin wheels for eight more episodes and set up a third season. Go to Full Review

Based on a True Story has fun pushing the boundaries, but it still colours within the lines and never goes too far to land a punchline. It’s the sweet centre of dark comedy, and an absolute blast. Go to Full Review

Based On A True Story Season 2 proves to be as strong as its predecessor. It leans into comedy and absurdity and adds to the conversation regarding true crime. The performances remain stellar, with Toma Bateman standing out as “sober” Matt. Go to Full Review

L. F Sep 18 Thank god they dropped all the dream sequences!! The show is much better for it and really builds on series 1. Great cast and brilliant performances! See more Ry N @RyGuy Sep 8 The baby is here! This season starts by cleaning up the messes of Season One almost immediately, Matt joins AA, Ava investigates a copycat killer, more are included in the secret... and the family? The show has a completely different feel this season with better writing (with a great twist) and fantasizing visuals which made for more quirky dark humor. See more Stephen C @bob25009 Jul 25 8 successful episodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See more Esra Y 02/19/2025 Still fun, Kaley Cuoco is a talented genre actress, rest of the cast serves too and i'd be down for 3rd season but i wish they haven't ditch podcast plot so soon bc ordinary people accidentally get involved with crime shenanigans is kind of one in a dozen. See more Narkanin @ASeal 01/31/2025 Got to be just as good or better than the first season. Please renew!!! See more Susan J @CallMeLulu 12/17/2024 I had mixed feeling about Season 1. The first few episodes were outstanding. But it seemed like a sprinter who was required to run cross country...and it ran out of energy and seemed to get bored and start messing around with the characters and making them like half-wit puppets. That's not really what I'm into--how many times can you laugh at the "joke" of "Oh my god, I can't believe how stupid these people are, and look at the mess they made of their lives *this* time!" Season 2 I hoped would pick up right where the cliffhanger of Season 1 left off with...but it didn't. And it now is almost completely a farce. It started out with some incisive low-key social commentary but that's gone in Season 2, and instead it's a shrill, messy parody of itself, and just not compelling to me. Very bummed. The actors are good but the director has them behaving like mentally deficient fools and clowns. See more Read all reviews
