This gripping series wastes no time in ratcheting up the tension, and the intriguing characters and back story make it feel like surprises could spring from any quarter. Go to Full Review

There are plenty of smart twists, and the quintessential Irishness of the six-part show-from the emerald landscapes to the readings of Yeats poems-is a pleasure unto itself. Go to Full Review

There are plenty of reasons to watch Blood, from its fine casting of unfamiliar faces to its supple command of plot and pace. Go to Full Review

Fine performances, and the whole idea that one of the children in a family becomes a "black sheep" fully through others' actions is an interesting premise. Go to Full Review

Betty B @Betty1977 Oct 25 Gloomy, depressing, mouldy houses, tracksuit bottoms, messy hair all around... Loved some of the acting, of course Adrian Dunbar,- but the main character Cat, really grated on me with her selfish, mad, self-centered attitude. All she cared about was proving herself right. Some totally unnecessary scenes in it too just for the shock-factor! Barry was great, what happened to his cat? There is no way Mrs H would've fallen backwards, the way she did. No way, anyone would've left her walk around on that stony, lumpy terrain by herself in her condition. The story just didn't ring true - how you conduct a full-blown affair where you are ready to leave the country with the mistress, whilst you wife (you suppose to love) is still alive but dying and he is making this big show of care for the weekend? The emotional investment would be too much..Buying a promise ring for the mistress while his wife is still around? 🫤 as for the uncle, there are no words See more Rudy A @RT31870702 Aug 16 Dark, complex and ultimately touching family drama from Ireland. Real and riveting. See more Alex M @RT18217266 12/09/2024 The most wooden one expression lead actress Carolina Main was the least compelling or charismatic actor in the whole thing. All other were great far more interesting & believable except for the slow dirgey script, a ghost mother popping in & & unbelievably stereotyped uncle plus plenty of long brooding fillers. Seemed everyone else had a hairbrush except her & god forbid they have a beleaguered lead (who looked 40 not 19) without grotty clothes, smoking & nose ring lol Waste of the other actors obvious talents. See more 02/22/2022 By the end of the sixth episode, I understand why the series is called "Blood," because I felt weak and anemic. The good -- reasonably well-acted, and some very nuanced touches in realistic minor details. -- minor spoilers below -- The bad -- I don't see how it's possible to identify or respect ANY character; they're all miserable. And the entire premise of the show -- Cat's horrendous childhood trauma (it isn't) that causes her to suspect her father -- is ridiculously flawed. As are a number of other plot elements that conveniently appear and disappear: the molesting "Uncle Frank," for one. See more Callison D @Moscow 09/26/2021 A subtle Irish family drama in which a family is reunited after the "accidental" death of the mother who was dying of a neurological disease. The untrusting youngest daughter returns home to blame the Dad, due to her childhood. Cat is fantastic as the feisty black sheep of the family. The Dad is a great character too. Weaker performances by sister Fiona and brother Michael. Season One is fantastic, even if a bit slow moving and understated. Not many dramatic twists. Just a Did he or Didn't he. Watched Season One in one sitting, had to see the finale. Started Season 2 and it was not good without Cat from Season one. Gave up on Season 2 after 2.5 boring episodes. See more 08/30/2020 An interesting plot, with interesting characters, played by very capable actors who didn't overplay their hands. The final episode was especially appealing because in an extended flashback it let me know I wasn't nearly as clairvoyant as I thought I was, smug with knowing where this storyline was headed. But it did it without being gimmicky. I loved the fact that all the characters were flawed, that the flaws were understandable on some level. This was a finely crafted series, with many fine And subtle touches along the way. See more Read all reviews
