Burden of Proof doesn’t traffic in classic shock value, but a different kind of horror: the maddeningly slow experience of watching one’s whole world fall apart in real time. Go to Full Review

A riveting, wrenching true crime docuseries that doubles as an almost Shakespearean family tragedy. Go to Full Review

Burden of Proof shows the painful search for peace and closure. Hill provides a sympathetic perspective of the aftermath of Jennifer’s disappearance, which has taken a toll on Stephen’s life. Go to Full Review

All of the assumptions the episodes raised in us previously are upended, and truth remains a damned elusive goal. Go to Full Review

Not an easy watch, but for the right reasons. In a crowded field of true crime, it’s distinguished primarily by its scope at the outset. Go to Full Review

Mike P 09/17/2024 Spoilers...Very disturbing documentary about the Pandos family...A family that was completely upended and eventually destroyed over suspicion and guilt regarding the murder of their oldest daughter...Jennifer...And it was all COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY...17 year old Jennifer Pandos vanished from her bedroom one night in 1987; and was never heard of again...And left a mysterious note for her parents about her disappearance...Which left the whole James County of Virginia reeling...And left her brother Stephen suspicious. Really suspicious. So suspicious he ended up destroying his relationship with his parents in the process. And he looks high and low for his sister in this 4 part documentary series; and when he finally finds the answer...it's not at all what he expected. This is a fascinating and well made true crime docudrama; as well as a humbling little fable about suspicion, grief, and the corrosive power of bitterness. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. See more Rachel M 10/22/2023 I read a couple of [not so favourable] reviews prior to watching this series, but decided to give it a go, anyway, and I'm so glad that I did. I thought it was incredibly well done and very captivating. The directors took the viewer on a rollercoaster of emotion while witnessing the emotional rollercoaster the Pandos family was on. It was excruciating at times, and I felt like it gave a glimpse into the frustration they must have been experiencing for decades. Although it didn't give us the ending we all wanted, it did seem to give the family some answers that it needed. I hope that the truth does come out soon, for the sake of the Pandos family, who have endured far more than anyone ever should. I recommend checking out the online interview with director Cynthia Hill by Addie Morfoot for Variety. See more Chloe M 08/05/2023 the fact people are giving this low ratings because "ThERe wAs nO sOLuTiOn" is so childish…there are, sadly, an immense amount of true crime cases that are unsolved, that doesn't mean their stories shouldn't be heard. I mean seriously, grow up, it was well made and hearing Jennifer's story is important. If you don't like unsolved crime documentaries then don't watch them, it's ridiculously easy to find out if it's solved or not without spoiling the doc. I came to rant about Ron's wife, Jay, being rude and annoying but instead all the reviews are rude and annoying. Not liking an ending that was expected isn't a reason to give something a poor rating, it's a reason to look into what you watch and maybe try being open minded. I admire Stephan for searching for the truth about his sister, and I enjoyed learning about her, I felt his anger and frustration. Watch youtube videos if you want quick true crime that's solved, there's a bigger story to pieces like this and if you're not interested in having an open mind about that then watch something that presents facts and an answer. See more Steve D 07/17/2023 Kind of interesting but took way to long to get to the end. After finally finishing, it felt like it was a waste of time. See more Gwen S 07/02/2023 So much more than "true crime." A slow burn unraveling of a family drama. An peek inside the emotional turmoil of a family living with uncertainty. This is a cerebral niche true crime series. Not for everyone but deserving of high praise if you're interested in family dynamics. Mystery is intriguing as well - with surprising twists and turns. See more Basil Vaughn S 06/28/2023 I don't mind an inconclusive film or documentary but this was exhaustingly slow and repetitive. See more Read all reviews
