The moment I saw another Ancient Egyptian flashback in the opening, I knew this would be a bad episode.
I felt nothing; there are no stakes, nothing to show us that Savage is anyone to fear.
"Leviathan" built up so much momentum, and it fades away with every flashback; with every character that gets shoehorned into a pointless subplot.
Add in the fact that everyone is being unnecessarily angsty and moody as they theoretically near the end of their mission, and it makes for another frustrating hour.
I am curious to see how the team gets out of their current situation, but Legends of Tomorrow has regularly failed to live up to expectations.
This could've worked very nicely for Legends Of Tomorrow if the writing, acting and directing was good enough to match up with or even surpass The Avengers.
This was a weak Legends of Tomorrow episode overall, as it lingered over Rip's failings as a leader and the overplayed love triangle.
I like these characters too much to see them robbed of their shining moments, and I want to feel invested again. Here's hoping this haphazard entry was just one bad apple.
Legends has been wrestling with the purpose of its own premise since the pilot, and finally doing something substantive, if only momentarily, with the Time Masters is a way to get closer to an actual premise beyond intellectual property.
