Sophia D @RT69206085 12/19/2023 The show is decent and seduced the audience aesthetically, though its critique of materialism comes across as overly puritanical. The scene where a character pathetically sniffs the cleaning lady's scarf trying to perform a sad wank for instance, borders on the absurd. Moreover, the sudden transformation of the character Yasin from being insufferably loud and angry to overly hopeful feels rushed and unrealistic. The series tends to view a certain class through rose-tinted glasses, romanticising it somewhat excessively, while perhaps demonising another class too harshly. Despite this, the criticism it offers and the questions it raises are both necessary and valid. Farhadi's "A Separation" delves into a similar theme with a depth and finesse that "Ethos" lacks.
