Judy Berman TIME Magazine Jun 30
Vinterberg has convincingly thought through not just the political, environmental, and financial aspects of this near-future crisis, but also how it might strain or strengthen familial relationships. The acting is superb. Go to Full Review

By inviting us to imagine such an atrocity happening to the citizens of a wealthy nation,...Vinterberg forces deeper and more personal consideration of the terrible reality for so many, right now. Go to Full Review

The show beautifully depicts how hope keeps one going through the darkest times. Even though the world around them was falling apart, Elias and Laura initially looked at it through rose-tinted glasses. Go to Full Review

Michael W @Wuffie Aug 29 This was an interesting approach to illuminating how we dehumanize immigrants. I thought it was well acted and, while the premise was somewhat flimsy, the depiction of life as immigrants seemed very real (albeit for generally rich, white northern Europeans, which was no doubt designed to make it more relatable to the average Netflix audience). This is a drama. There is very little action. Though, the story line and characters are interesting enough to compel you to follow the story. Much better than the typical slop Netflix usually serves up. See more Michael B Jul 27 Not sure if William J has ever been to Denmark. No mountains. I think the highest point in 560 feet. See more jacehtc01 Jun 14 It's an utterly stupid plot and the characters are all reprehensible. I kept watching hoping worse and worse tragedies would befall them. Or was that the point? See more William J 12/09/2024 The whole premise of the mini series is a bit outlandish, given the topographical variance in Denmark's geographical elevation. While the urban business and financial center of Copenhagen might be swallowed up by a rising Baltic why doesn't the affected parts of the nation relocate to the higher elevations and lower population densities of Fyn and especially Jylland? Because the urbane upper class and privileged who have millions invested in historic manor houses and suburban real estate don't want to live amongst common rural farmers? You get the impression this is April 1940 all over again -- a quick surrender after a mere hour facing the enemy. Otherwise a bit soppy in tone, Danes simply aren't given to such romantic melodrama.
