Educator Henry Louis Gates Jr. has hosted several PBS series that examine U.S. history. In "Finding Your Roots," the Harvard professor continues his quest to "get into the DNA of American culture." In each episode, celebrities view ancestral histories, sometimes learn of connections to famous/infamous people, discover secrets, and share the emotional experience with viewers. Analyzing genetic code, DNA diagnosticians trace bloodlines and occasionally debunk long-held beliefs.

See more Leroy C @RT30506711 Apr 9 After so many years of watching Dr. Gates share the ancestry of his guests to to them and the world, it was great to experience his family background. I loved Laurence Fishbourne's reaction when his father was discovered. I watched this show because I am deeply interested in my family's history. My dad never knew his dad, and it's my mission to figure out who that person may be like, Laurence Fishbourne did. This show gives me encouragement gives me hope we can't change our past, but it's great learning about it. Wishing you continued success, Dr. Gates. I really enjoy watching your program.
