Critic Reviews for Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted Season 1

All Critics (6) | Top Critics (1)

Uncharted is thoroughly entertaining, mostly because Ramsay's such an uncouth personality, and the Kiwis he's set up with are so laid-back.

Purely as a travelogue, though, the series has plenty to recommend it, particularly with the emphasis on sustainability, local sourcing, nose-to-tail eating and the wisdom of ancestral peoples.

Ramsay shows a more humble side in Uncharted, but the show is more about adventure and food than the people he's visiting. And that's OK. Just don't expect it to go any deeper.

Uncharted showcases a lighter side of Ramsay's personality, trading in his fiery temper for gleeful exuberance as he explores new cultures.

There is much to learn here and some absolutely gorgeous camerawork. But Ramsay's manic energy always creates a slightly aggressive vibe, so whenever I watch him I feel slightly irritated.

The show is a true love letter to foods of the world and much of it is sold by the enthusiasm of Ramsay that is the most joyous and exuberant he's been on television in quite some time.

Audience Reviews for Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted: Season 1

  • Aug 19, 2019
I love everything Ramsey does, and this is no exception. If you only know him for yelling and cursing, turn off Hells Kitchen and watch anything else he's done because he's a genuine guy. The visuals of the places he visits are just stunning, and its very entertaining seeing all the peoples he's meeting.

It is entertaining and it shows a more humble side of Gordon, one that we haven't seen in any other show until today. Recommended if you are in love with international cuisines and cultures.
