Globetrotting celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay serves up an epic adventure in "Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted." He travels around the world meeting with Indigenous people to learn about their foods and cultures. In each location, he harvests new ingredients and samples new dishes. He also teams up with local legends to cook feasts to present to the native peoples. As an Ironman athlete, Ramsay treks through a jungle, climbs a rock face and rappels down a raging waterfall. In his quest for culinary inspirations, he samples weaver ant eggs in Laos, hunts for eels with his bare hands, goes spear-fishing in Hawaii, and hangs off a cliff in Peru to harvest cactus worms. "It's been an amazing journey traveling off the beaten path with National Geographic and connecting with locals to learn and share incredible stories of unique traditions, delicacies and the extreme lengths it takes to harvest native ingredients," says Ramsay.

There is much to learn here and some absolutely gorgeous camerawork. But Ramsay's manic energy always creates a slightly aggressive vibe, so whenever I watch him I feel slightly irritated. Go to Full Review

Gordon Ramsay mostly has ego and acid oozing out of his pores, and it overwhelms the senses. Go to Full Review

Salty language in travel show honoring indigenous cuisine. Go to Full Review

Uncharted is thoroughly entertaining, mostly because Ramsay's such an uncouth personality, and the Kiwis he's set up with are so laid-back. Go to Full Review

Purely as a travelogue, though, the series has plenty to recommend it, particularly with the emphasis on sustainability, local sourcing, nose-to-tail eating and the wisdom of ancestral peoples. Go to Full Review

Ramsay shows a more humble side in Uncharted, but the show is more about adventure and food than the people he's visiting. And that's OK. Just don't expect it to go any deeper. Go to Full Review

Derek L @RT51637195 04/18/2023 It is highly interesting to see a rather different perspective of Gordon Ramsay as he travels around to learn more about culinary world. See more 08/16/2021 Outstanding camera work as well as surprisingly sharp humor and interesting people, is bogged down by the attempt at creating a dramatic formula, and poor pacing almost make this more annoying than enjoyable. Gordon Ramsay is charismatic and magnetic when he's being his most genuine self, and unfortunately, the rushed pacing and clumsily shoe-horned 'challenges' that are stuffed into each episode in order to try and create some kind of tension, showcase Gordon's greatest weakness: pretending he doesn't know how to cook. Since it's NatGeo puling the strings, it's understandable why so much of the focus is on the travel and the culture around the food experiences, and those tend to be the more enjoyable parts. Unfortunately it puts Gordon at a disadvantage because it leaves him so little time to connect with the people that his energy and personality come off as impatient and irritating as he talks over his guests in an attempt to keep up the weak facade of an underlying plot. The authentic Gordon Ramsay is a pleasure to watch, but seeing him pretend his experiences are brand-new is a little awkward, especially if on one of his other shows, you've seen him do the exact same things. What I've genuinely enjoyed are the stunning visuals and camera work, as well as the number of people in all the different places who discuss their culture and ultimately end up taking the pi** out of Gordon via a prank or a joke at his expense. Gordon's voice-overs also tend to slip ample humor in which lightens things up a bit, and overall, I'd vote to watch it rather than skip it, but when compared to Gordon Ramsay's Great Escapes from 2010, this one is a bit weak on content but strong in visual punch. See more 04/11/2021 What a great show!!!!!! It's a must watch See more 09/21/2020 Great show that embodies everything that Gordon does well. Embracing the cultures of different places and making it super entertaining and a fun watch. Would strongly recommend to everyone See more 09/07/2020 Shameful knockoff of Bourdain's show See more 07/19/2020 Great show. I only watched it when I got Disney+, which turned out to be very enjoyable. See more Read all reviews
