Grounded for Life: Season 1 (2001)

Season 1
Grounded for Life

Critics Consensus

Boosted by Donal Logue and Megan Price's chemistry, Grounded For Life puts a clever spin on a tired genre that's as charming as it is dysfunctional.

Critic Reviews for Grounded for Life Season 1

With any luck, the network will give the show some time to find its sea legs. It's not bad at all, it's just not there yet.

The studio audience's laughter sounds unnatural, but some scenes are uproarious. The show has a fast-moving style, and the writing, which relies on flashbacks, is distinctive.

This is the goods -- as funny as Malcolm in the Middle. In fact, it will remind you of that show in that it's another inside look at a wacky family... Donal Logue and Megyn Price are hilarious as the parents.

Grounded for Life should take a cold shower.

The Finnertys of Grounded act crazy, but there's no sense of absurdity. And that makes them pathetic.

Oct 23, 2018 | Full Review…

Grounded For Life is a family sitcom that in many ways doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, but also makes a few modifications to the well-worn genre that generally give it a bit of a kick in the pants.

More amusing than funny. Logue, who usually plays lowlifes, does well playing a sweet, overwhelmed father and loving husband. Price is a pleasure to watch.

Underneath the Married... With Children vibe are some important lessons about loyalty, patience, and familial trust.

Oct 23, 2018 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review…

It's FOX tradition to depict family life in the form of a twisted cartoon. So the new Grounded for Life comes off as edgy and derivative at the same time.

Oct 23, 2018 | Full Review…

Logue and Price have a natural rapport -- they seem genuinely amused by and attracted to each other.
