There are tricks and treats in this sister show to the seasonal "Holiday Baking Championship." Bakers are tasked with creating spooky treats in Halloween-themed challenges. As the competition heats up, judges -- who have included Lorraine Pascale, Stephanie Boswell, Carla Hall and Zac Young -- eliminate contestants. The best keep moving through rounds as the tasks and challenges become more complicated. The champion of the "Main Heat" gets a $25,000 prize and the prestige of being declared winner of the season's creepiest cooking contest.

11/05/2021 Forget traditional Halloween favorites like witches, pumpkins, candy, and trick-or-treating. The theme of this year's 2021 Halloween Baking Championship was "serial killer at devils lake camp." Fun family entertainment it wasn't. The baked goods included heaping helping of faux blood, axe murders, and the decorations with the appearance of what was supposed to be skin sewed together from the serial killer victims. Hey, anyone know what the Third Reich's SS did with their victims' skin during the Holocaust? The judges' costumes were gross and played into the same overly violent iterations. The first baker eliminated from the competition was then shown in a pic with an ax in his head like on a poster for a horror film. Nice image for his two young sons to see. I can't believe there hasn't been more flack and outrage about this once-enjoyable, family-friendly show.
