Tv Season Info

This series was already trafficking in TV nostalgia with regulars Valerie Bertinelli, Betty White, Wendie Malick and Jane Leeves, and its list of guest stars, and Season 2 brings more of the same, including several significant sitcom reunions. In the first episode, after Elka (White) is jailed for hiding stolen property, her cell mate is played by Mary Tyler Moore, White's costar from Moore's eponymous 1970s comedy. In addition, Bertinelli's "One Day at a Time" mom, Bonnie Franklin, plays the mother of a police officer who's been dating Melanie (Bertinelli), but doesn't exactly embrace her as a potential daughter-in-law. In other developments, Joy (Leeves) has to jump through a number of hoops to avoid being deported, and Victoria (Malick) gets into a scuffle with Melanie Griffith during an audition. Notable guest stars include Buck Henry, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jon Lovitz, Susan Lucci, John Mahoney, Don Rickles, Amy Sedaris and George Wendt.

Critic Reviews for Hot in Cleveland Season 2

"Hot in Cleveland" somehow went without a full theme song, but in every other way is so much better than either of its companion shows.

Nov 8, 2018 | Full Review…

The comedy is not what you'd call inspired, but it's less brassy and brittle than it was when it first arrived, and the show's cast knows exactly how to play this kind of cheerfully one-dimensional material.

Jan 29, 2014 | Full Review…

Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick, Jane Leeves and White have all been around the sitcom block and have fine-tuned not only their skillful line delivery, but their personae as well.

Jan 29, 2014 | Rating: 3/4 | Full Review…

It's not genuinely good on its own, but it sure seems that way when it's joined at the hip Happily Divorced.

Jan 28, 2014 | Full Review…

The gang delivers a ton of mostly low-brow laughs, but they're laughs nonetheless.

Nov 8, 2018 | Full Review…

The show remains a not-terrible throwback to the kinds of sitcoms the broadcast networks used to make.
