Martin's "Fire & Blood," "House of the Dragon" is set nearly 200 years before the events of "Game of Thrones," telling the story of the Targaryen civil war with King Viserys I Targaryen's children battling for control of the Iron Throne.

There’s little lightness, little love, and sex seems like a device to create more characters to kill, with blood and fire galore. Go to Full Review

All in all, House of the Dragon is a thrilling, emotionally devastating, and a visually stunning chapter in the saga. It delivers everything fans hoped for: spectacle, heartbreak, political intrigue, and dragons. Go to Full Review

There is nothing on television as lavish, knotty or spectacularly expensive-looking. Even when it makes you want to put your head through a wall. Go to Full Review

The prequel seems destined to go down as a commercially successful baton pass that, perhaps inevitably, rivals the scale that defined the flagship series without matching the alchemy that truly made it take flight. Go to Full Review

Season 3 comes pretty close to reviving the aura of "House of the Dragon" Season 1 and making up for the abrupt, sauceless ending of Season 2. Yet, there are some kinks that hold it back from being truly great television. Go to Full Review

Scott P @RT56848700 3 days ago This season is so unbelievably boring. I made to the 4th episode and shut it off halfway through. I couldn't care less about what happens to any of the characters. A painful watch really. See more Rodney B @RodneySB 6 days ago Super boring! Costumes are like realistic period appropriate to middle ages, but only if they wore blankets under them. Zero sex appeal. Action mostly absent again until the final episode. Obvious fear of offing any leads and ridiculous bring back heel from the dead narrative as if they didn't have better options (obviously they did). Hands down the worst season of any of the GOT series even with the awesome final episode. Maisie Williams once said, "It should be called Death and Boobies" its not rocket science get back to the simple format, the story does the rest of the work. See more Simon F @Simonjf Oct 12, 2026 Incredible improvements and dramatic battles make for a unstoppable and extremely addictive season of magnificent television - I would actually love to see this on the big screen! See more Dusty O @opticboy57 Oct 3, 2026 A lot of buildup, this was my least favorite of the 3. The final season should be amazing though. (Or so we’ve thought before) hopefully they can deliver this time. See more Ian J @RT27616994 Sep 28, 2026 I honestly can’t recommend this show to anyone in good faith. It was bad from beginning to end. The finally is one of the least satisfying ends to a show I’ve ever seen. Don’t waste your time watching this. See more Zoe H @Zeebie Sep 22, 2026 Utter shit. Worst writing ever, not only do they drag everything out and add pointless scenes but everyone has dragons that do absolutely nothing! Tell me why we are sitting with 6 dragons and fighting on foot? And how come a complete nobody loser THAT DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING goes crazy with his dragon burning everyone in the finale but the mains couldn't do that a bunch of episodes back to prevent their problems? Suddenly each person on the opposite team survives literally anything to live a pointless life that contributes nothing to the story but the ones everyone wants to win dies over the stupidest things? Makes no sense. Throwing the fact that you have dragons in everyone's faces yet fail to use them is actually the most infuriating thing to watch throughout the season. Worst part is wanting to suddenly put action into everything all at once when you find out aegon is alive when you could have prevented everything if you had just used common sense extremely boring episodes prior.
