Rescued from a bottle (and a deserted island) by a U.S. astronaut, a scantily clad genie named Jeannie becomes his slave and eventually falls in love with him. But unlike most genie stories, there are no three wishes rule - so Jeannie uses her magic all the time, often without talking to her rescuer about it first.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

I Dream of Jeannie wishes to replicate better shows with the same magical formula, but -- despite Barbara Eden's game performance -- it only proves that genuine charm can't be bottled.

Harry Harris Philadelphia Inquirer 03/03/2021
Miss Eden is most beguiling, but the track-photography-accompanied shenanigans in Saturday's premiere were only half-witty. Go to Full Review
Jerry Coffey Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com 03/03/2021
Written and played a bit broader than the witchcraft comedy and lacks the built-in warmth afforded Bewitched by its cozy domesticity, but it came off Saturday as a bright, agreeable little show which should attract a sizable following. Go to Full Review
Larry Wolters Chicago Tribune 03/03/2021
If you plumped for Bewitched, My Favorite Martian, and much earlier Superman, you may go for this one, but there's not much magic in it for us. Go to Full Review
Dwight Newton San Francisco Examiner 03/03/2021
The show does not have heart. Besides, it has too many weaknesses. It is contrived. The first "pilot" show set the premise amusingly. The second was a disaster. Go to Full Review
Jack Anderson Miami Herald 03/03/2021
All this series does for me is to make me fidgety, but there are a lot of viewers, I will predict, who will find it an absolute scream. Go to Full Review
