Cyberpunk anime features violence, some clunky storytelling.

The plot and characters exist in service to these mechanics rather than the other way around. Fans of sci-fi with heavy world building might enjoy this; fans of character driven sci-fi, however, might not.

Audience Reviews for Ingress: The Animation: Season 1

I think it was very well done, there are some slightly messy plot points, but in my opinion, they do get fixed up later on in the story. worth for everyone to give it a go

I think it may polarise Ingress players (but what's new, amiright?) it was a little disappointing it doesn't get deeper into the existing Ingress lore; the Shapers or N'Zeer aren't mentioned at all and there are some other issues that contradict aforementioned law. That being said it's still a bit of fun, the post-credit scene of the last episode drops a pretty pleasing dramabomb, even if the climax of the season is cheesy at best (hey,it's an anime, it was bound to be that way). Hopefully if they get a second season they will go more into the lore and maybe have more recognisable characters show up, and explore the origins of XM , the Shapers, etc. As far as a mystery/adventurey sleuth story, it had me interested in the characters and featured some great character development between the two leading males. It's full of tropes, but then, once again, it's an anime. It's good, I'd probably watch again, people who haven't played the game might find the parts where they shoehorn in trying to explain how it works a bit jarring.
