02/05/2020 Although Kuromukuro falls into the familiar tropes of the genre (an overwhelming alien force sending one robot at a time to be defeated 🤔) the character development and interaction between the main characters is great. The series is well animated from the characters to the mecha which are unique in their designs and the battle scenes are well scripted. The main plot thread of a boy from the feudal period of Japan ending up in the present day is a nice touch that isn't overplayed and most of the comedy in the series derives from this plot point. Overall Kuromukuro is funny, touching and exciting and although the series isn't going to win any awards but as a mecha fan I thoroughly enjoyed it and although the series leaves it open for a possible 3rd season the ending is touching and remarkably well done. Definitely satisfying enough that should it end here nobody could really complain. See more 12/16/2019 Is this show 5 stars? No. But its tragically underrated. You just need to know what youre getting into. Do you like anime? If yes, Do you like Mecha? If yes, this shows a treat. What I really liked about this show, unlike many anime in its vein, it has an overarching plot/mystery that slowly grasps you and keeps you comming back for more. They keep a tight lock on the mystery, slowly trickling you hints here and there until finally the secret is out, and you've already been hooked to the gills before you knew it. Now its time to watch these characters you've become familiar with save the world. Its a mediocre anime, but consistent. And really, thats all it needs to be. By the end, it still managed to keep me enthralled in its world, in my headspace even days to weeks after watching. It needs a third season, because I am left incomplete with its end (though it wraps up nice, its clearly set up for much larger stories.) Overall, its an enjoyable and digestable piece of mecha anime that will keep you entertained and comming back for more... or rather, keep you binging if thats your thing. So watch it, and demand a third season. See more Read all reviews
