Tv Season Info

Season Nineteen of NBC's hit procedural series "Law & Order" continues to dramatize the experiences of the detectives in the NYPD homicide division, and the DA office responsible for prosecuting the crimes that homicide investigates. This season witnessed no cast changes from the prior year. Returning characters included DA Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston), Lt. Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson), ADA Connie Rubirosa (Alana de la Garza), Detective Kevin Bernard (Anthony Anderson), Detective Cyrus Lupo (Jeremy Sisto), and EADA Michael Cutter (Linus Roache). Cases this season include: two university biologists who return home and find their son and housekeeper dead, a mafia-affiliated truck driver who gets slain, a serial killer who targets homeless men, and ultimately, a charity executive who turns up dead - a case that brings an old friend back into McCoy's life and may force the distinguished DA to prosecute him.

For all of that, the producers' storytelling ingenuity continues to impress and keep the series watchable, irrespective of who's in the opening credits.

One of the great joys of the current "L&O" era is that every tightly constructed plot starts in one place but takes so many twists and turns that you never know where it will end up.

Compulsory watching for television genealogists, I would say, but pretty good watching even for those who don't give a damn about ancestry and pedigree.
