Midway into the series, I found myself thinking, Why are we here? To watch weary strife and “mild situations,” as the content warnings caution us, dutifully executed? Go to Full Review

Its insistence on seeing the birth of a nation as a dangerous endeavor requiring persistent, even arduous, generosity proves enchanting. Go to Full Review

The familiar title of Little House on the Prairie may bring lots of viewers to this new version, but I can't say it really resonates, except for the performances of Halsey as Laura and Christie as Edwards. Go to Full Review

Dennis D @DennisD1956 5d I find with this type of programme you need to have some empathy with the main characters to maintain your interest. I’m sorry to say that I found the central family to be so irritating that I was hoping the wolves would make a return to the homestead and put us all out of our misery! See more leonardo M @Leolikesmovies624 6d A beautiful retelling of a classic! The new Little House on the Prairie is a genuinely impressive reimagining. The storytelling has much more depth than I expected, with strong character development and excellent acting that gives the material real emotional weight. The scenery and overall atmosphere are beautiful without feeling overly polished or distracting from the story. I especially appreciated how it engages with the history and treatment of Native Americans. Rather than simply glossing over that part of the setting, the series finds interesting ways to explore the racial tensions, displacement, and complicated relationships surrounding Indigenous communities. It adds a layer of historical complexity that makes the world feel more honest and lived-in. Overall, it feels thoughtful, well-acted, and surprisingly nuanced while still capturing the spirit of the original. See more Tracy R @s68w2frim5 6d Great for the whole family. See more Stephen D @RT37880768 Aug 9 Consistently beautiful to look at, even if the storytelling felt repetitive and over simplistic at times. Still retains the original's wholesomeness, while also avoiding that show's whitewashed and overly simplistic depiction of frontier life. At its best, as in the Christmas episode, it feels like a very natural continuation of that series while doing its own thing. Some truly gorgeous performances of old folk songs and hymns throughout, and its nice to see that some of some of those seem to have made it on the soundtrack. Luke Bracey, call me. See more Mark C @RT16569367 Aug 6 Modern writing is terrible. I’m tired of being lectured about gender, race or anything to do with ideology or politics. Just make an entertaining story and leave your own messaging out of film See more David H @wolfstar Aug 6 Having watched the original television series back in the 1970’s, but never having read the books, I have to day I really enjoyed this new series. It has that some wholesome, earnest, non-cynical vibe that makes it so charming, but with a layer of depth and nuance that adds to the experience. Definitely worth the watch, if you ask me.
