Think of it as Bridgerton's more serious, deeply grounded cousin. While it delivers all the swoon-worthy, high-stakes yearning and a genuinely gripping love triangle that romance lovers crave, it brings a much richer, weightier tone to the screen. Based on Ángeles Mastretta’s novel, the seven-episode series follows Emilia Sauri, a determined young woman torn between two very different loves: the passionate Daniel and the sensible Dr. Zavalza. Above all, Emilia pursues her dream of becoming one of Mexico’s first female doctors, against the backdrop of a country convulsed by civil wars and political turmoil between 1910 and 1920.
