Despite a few missteps along the way, they were minor compared to everything else that was going on.

Possibly the best overall season of AoS, while it doesn't quite reach the heights of the final few episodes of Season 1, the actual storytelling over the three arcs is great.

Agents of SHIELD had plenty of comic material to draw upon, but focusing on Hydra allowed it to stay grounded and realistic.

The series often turns on a dime, but the viewer never feels whiplash. An impressive accomplishment given the multitude of times this show could have easily veered off the rails.

Season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is far and away the best season of the series.

"Agents" is in its best creative space since the end of Season 3.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. opened Season 4 with the introduction of a well-publicized new threat - the hot-headed, vengeance-seeking Ghost Rider - but closed its premiere with a second, equally ominous twist.

After setting up chess pieces all season long, this episode finally brought together the season's two disparate strands: Ghost Rider's hellish vengeance spree and AIDA's toying with artificial life.

Audience Reviews for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 4

This is where Shield peaked for me. Ghost Rider, LMDs, and an alternate world controlled by Hydra make this season a thrill ride from beginning to end.
  • May 19, 2019
This show's quality is Avengers level. I love it more than life.
  • May 08, 2019
Leaps and bounds ahead of all the other seasons.
  • May 05, 2019
Best thing I've ever seen in my life!!!!

The fourth season of 'Agents of SHIELD' is essential viewing for any fan of television, superheroes, or both. Now holding the definitive ensemble cast of any season before it thanks to the more prevalent addition of Natalia Cordova-Buckley and the trimming of a few less compelling characters, this round packs three spectacular storylines that begin with a highly impressive Ghost Rider intro and escalate into a twisting, mind-boggling thrill ride that would be a crime to spoil here. Gabriel Luna is great as Robbie Reyes, who's backed up by special effects that somehow make the Hispanic Ghost Rider feasible on TV. But as great as Luna and the rest of the main cast are, Mallory Jansen (of 'Galavant' fame, do yourself a favor and check that out as well) one-ups everyone as the show's best villain to date. And, as to be expected by now, the earth-shattering repercussions of the season's climax outdo anything that came before them. Season 4 peaks, then peaks higher twice more. That's some good television.

Season 4 of Agents of SHIELD has some undeniably cool moments, but the plot drags a bit more than in earlier installments.
  • Mar 03, 2019
The best season yet by a landslide. Each plot line is strong, well written, well acted, and action-packed, and they all tie together at the end.

Robots and Ghosts. As you would know from most series and movies that include androids mostly turn evil. So it was obvious what was going to happen. They included Ghost Rider which was a risky move since he is quite a big character that can be introduced to the big MCU movies. Luckily he had a wonderful backstory (in writing I mean) and was fortunately played by Gabriel Luna, to improve his character on the screen. His character had amazing CGI and special effects although one thing was that he needs more scenes. The alternate reality couple of episodes really was the greatest moments I have seen in the series so far great and Iain De Caestecker, was so, so, so good. And I am hoping to see him or the personality next season. The audio has improved by far. So my final sentence, predictable ending and awesome new characters. I would age this 15 for sex scenes, bad language and violence, gore, and spooky scenes. Grade: A-

First off, I created this account just to review Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. This show, more importantly, this season was by far one of the best television programs I have ever seen. It merges with the MCU movies in a way that I drastically wish D.C. films would. None the less, the reintroduction of Ghost Rider definitely gave this show it's flare for the unexpected... I'm excited to see what happens after the effects of Infinity War P1 come to light.

This was almost ALMOST the perfect season of Agents of SHIELD. It could have been perfect if they had done one thing: edit the Framework arc to make Fitz a half-decent person who ISN'T emotionally manipulated (aka without consent) to be enamored with an evil robot. The first 2 arcs of the season are smooth and exciting... Though the first arc wasn't my favorite, it was thoroughly enjoyable (particularly Robbie) and the second arc certainly went off with a bang. But that last arc... I spent so much time writing meta on the nature vs. nurture and the essence of a person and the importance of free will and consent... and the writers didn't quite seem to care about the implications of making Fitz evil. They didn't even have a moment where "all this suffering is worth it". This show is still suffering from that arc, honestly. Sure, let him have some pain... this is Agents of SHIELD. But what happened in The Framework arguably messed with Fitz the most and had the biggest long-term implications. The idea of the Framework arc had me SO excited... and then it just burned me so badly.
