I’m shying away from making this 5 stars only because I feel I’ve been handing them out today. Such a fun and heartwarming show. My complaints lie with one thing: I think the idea of the poeple being against Superman is kinda silly. The government and corporations can be, sure. But people on the street hating him weird. But this show doesn’t really do this badly, we see enough people still sympathetic to Clark that it still makes sense. See more Kenny A @nerdsman567 Jul 13 Have you ever been in a situation where you "think" you know somebody, but then you stop and realize, you didn't really know that person as well as you thought you did? When it comes to fictional characters, Superman was a prime example of that for me. For most of my life, I've only viewed Superman as "the icon" and not as an actual character. I've always respected him from a historical standpoint, but for the most part, he always seemed like a blank slate to me growing up. Rare instances like Christopher Reeve's take were a mere exception, more than anything. I saw him more as an object or an idea than a tangible person . . . My entire perception of Superman has changed COMPLETELTY with the advent of the animated series, "My Adventures with Superman." This is one of the best incarnations of Superman I've ever seen, 2nd only to Christopher Reeve's Superman. I love this Superman so much! MAWS Superman is a fascinating character! He's so kind and charming, but he's also sympathetic and surprisingly complex, which I especially admire and appreciate. Jack Quaid's vocal performance brings so much sincerity and warmth to the character, as well. In the wake of MAWS, I've been going down this HUGE rabbit hole of Superman content, going out of my way to read more Superman comics and overall expanding my knowledge on his lore in the DC Universe. I've never felt more inspired and passionate about Superman at any other point in my life and I owe it all to MAWS for enlightening me. While MAWS isn't a perfect show by any means, I absolutely love the characterization and emotional depth they've given Superman. The show gets Superman and what he stands for. The way the show manages to humanize him really resonates with me. It's touched me on a personal level. Back when this series was first announced, I figured it would just be a cute, dumb comedy that poked fun at all the old Superman cliches, but I’m so thankful this series is treating the material with nuance and respect, giving us proper story progression and characterization, exploring the Superman mythos in new and interesting ways. This show has given me a whole new perspective and appreciation for the Superman lore, both with Superman, himself, and his supporting cast. For me, personally, this series singlehandedly saved ANY shred of hope I had for the character, especially after being utterly disappointed by how poorly his character was handled in the DC Extended Universe. MAWS Superman is the first modern adaptation of Superman, or ANY superhero adaptation in recent memory, to make me feel legitimately happy and hopeful for the first time in a real long while. This is the Superman I never knew I wanted and I'm so thankful for it. This show made me love Superman. As a kid in the mid 90's and early 2000's, I always thought I was exclusively a Batman fan when it came to being a "fan" of the overall DC Universe, having grown up seeing reruns of "Batman: The Animated Series" on Toonami/Cartoon Network and watching Tim Burton's "Batman (1989)" on repeat on VHS. MAWS has become a VERY rare instance where I loved Superman more than Batman. This is a rare instance, for me, where Superman was truly on top. See more Read all reviews
