Teenager Shinichi Izumi is a high-school student who lives in a quiet Tokyo neighborhood with his parents. His life changes when wormlike creatures, called Parasites, appear on Earth, bent on taking over the brains of human hosts by entering their ears or noses. One such Parasite tries to crawl into Shinichi's ear while he's sleeping one night, but his headphones block entry, so the creature -- who gets the name Migi -- burrows into Shinichi's arm instead, taking over control of his right hand. Shinichi and Migi eventually form a bond as they work together to survive their unique circumstances.

Seraphim @sephy Jan 14 Well, first of all let me start with the highlights: Amazing concept, fantastic animation, and really nice art direction. I enjoyed the way the parasites were written, which felt pretty believable as a whole. However, this show really shoots itself in the foot by focusing on cliched storylines and tropes to show how "badass" the MC is, instead of using its concept to create more engaging storylines. I wasn't expecting much out of the female characters, but their characterization was abysmal. It was not very pleasant to watch those parts as a woman. All they do is fawn mindlessly over the MC. The sections that involve the government response, the other parasites adapting, and the MC's inner turmoil over slowly becoming more and more inhuman, I wish there was more of that. But after seeing the contrived love triangle plot through I could not find a reason to continue watching. The bad writing is really disappointing since the idea of the show is better than what it is! See more Dannyoo 12/03/2024 Where to start... Well first off the plot. I think there are a few clichés, but that doesn't take away from the story at all. Its still an extremely engaging narrative, it just makes it more predictable sometimes. The story is told through the viewpoint of the main protagonist and his 'companion'.
