There are many adventures in Season 2, packed into eight episodes (so far). Whether or not Netflix will bring out a secret ninth episode remains to be seen, but the second season does leave audiences on an exhilarating cliffhanger. Sonic Prime Season 2 delivers a fun experience for its target audience when all is said and done. While the simple story and largely one-note characters don't bring enough to captivate a grown-up audience, I think it brings enough for younger viewers... So it's more accessible as there isn't the disorientation of having to re-a quaint yourself with alternate versions of the cast. The egg council plays a more active role, bringing bigger stakes. The action sequences are better too. It's just missing a plot. The Egg Council have no scheme other than hitting Sonic with everything they've got. And likewise, the heroes respond to what's thrown at them without any strategy. There are 8 episodes, but there's little to demarcate them, and they all blur together (save for the initial Shadow one that has more of a plot). It almost feels like watching someone playing Sonic CD. Sonic gets helpless ricocheted around the environments with the time travel being replaced with dimension swapping. There's even a much anticipated show down with doppelgänger that ends up being underwhelming! With a bit more plotting and seed planting for payoffs, this could have been something special. It's still fun, but it's also shallow and a bit exhausting in places. See more Read all reviews
