The sight of a light saber coming to life has become about as thrilling as turning on a table lamp. Go to Full Review

The performances overall are more dynamic, the writing more engaging than usual for Disney+, which keeps the series from dragging like its predecessors. Go to Full Review

While The Acolyte is mostly able to skirt by given how well its cast sells the emotional context of each scene, the degree of narrative withholding Headland is attempting here threatens to undermine a lot of this otherwise strong character work. Go to Full Review

I enjoyed The Acolyte, and once it finished, I couldn’t wait to do a complete rewatch to spot the connections, the references, the foreshadowing, and all the details I overlooked the first time around. Go to Full Review

We got incredible, multi-dimensional characters who made us feel all the emotions and whom we’re going to miss. I can’t remember the last time I fell so instantly in love with new characters. I’m so glad The Acolyte exists and that we got to see it. Go to Full Review

Xao R @XaoRalas 1d I wanted this to be more and I find it surprising that the writers couldn't come up with a better story for this great cast. I watched it per week, and the story got a bit boring, especially with all the fillers. But if you watch it in one go, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy yourself. It's a pity they cancelled it, and in my view they should've brought more of the story they planned to tell, probably in season 2 that will never come. The show looks pretty good. They use a lot of practical effects which makes the show look 'small' sometimes, which in my view wasn't the right choice, especially with the budget they had. But the lightsabers and general effects were quite impressive. See more Robert R. @CheddarWhite 1d I rewatched it again a year later. So many good performances and fights, but it doesn’t make any sense. See more Ben W. @th3wol5f Jan 26 Had potential. Failed. Wish it had a chance at another season because the foreshadowing was interesting, despite the final couple episodes making little to no sense. See more Kyle S. @dontputmarbles Jan 24 The negative reviews are overly dramatic. It's clearly fanboy-level gripes that aren't addressing the actual content of the show. To say that Start Wars cannon was coherent and well-planned until this point is just laughable. The only thing that truly bothered me is they kept that terrible "midi-chlorian count" blood test as a measure of force aptitude - Lucas killed the mystique of Star Wars with that in Episode I, not this show. What makes this show unique is that it provides a fresh perspective of the Jedi Order that would almost certainly be true if it really existed. It portrays the Jedi as a weirdo cult that thinks they know better than everyone else. Living apart from normal human beings and being told that you are a literal beacon of pure goodness would get to your head. Want a "serious" Star Wars show that has a profound plot and excellent writing? Watch Andor. Acolyte is worth a watch because it tried something different, even if the writing is cringe at times. See more Brian @BrianB165 Jan 21 This was sad. Despite a high budget, it looked cheap. The Jedi were weak and confused. Most of the actors had zero charisma. Definitely some cringe moments as well: ‘the power of MAAAANY’. Sorry it didn’t work. See more Romen B @Eric54321 Jan 16 This show is tragic to me. To move on from the skywalkers and get a completely original story with original characters that did not cross over with more known ones (which happened anyway) Star Wars writers had to go 100 years in the past and still failed. It's actually quite impressive at this point. This show gets the grace of getting one star only for the alien designs in episode 1, and for the fact that it was able to kill of characters (even if it still failed at that, on the basis that it did it too early for anyone to care about the characters being killed off.) Credit where credit is due I guess *sighs heavily* See more Read all reviews
