This uneven docuseries rehashes the decades-old theory that child killer Andrea Yates was brainwashed by cult leader Michael Woroniecki. The interviews (including with Andrea's ex-husband Rusty Yates) are better than the film editing. Go to Full Review

...a fascinating and angering watch, but one you ought to watch. If nothing else, then to live by the creed: When you know better, you do better. We all need to know better if we are to avoid these tragedies in the future. Go to Full Review

Koo K @Koocool Jan 25 This "documentary" is not worth the watch. Dragging too long, making the husband seem like an innocent bystander, not talking almost at all about Andrea and postpartum depression and/or mental struggles and worst of all, making this all about religion and religious cult leader, who NO ONE should give any focus or their time in the first place. See more Linda M @lindamindel Jan 18 There is so much I want to write that's wrong with this docuseries, but I only have 1000 characters The title of this series is heavily misleading. This isn't about Andrea, nor does it really dive into anything new if you know the case. Instead it focuses on Michael Woroniecki, a cult leader, and how he could have influenced the killings. You have to wait until the THIRD episode to get anything regarding the trial of Andrea. And as far as we know the creators did not reach out to try and interview her for it (if they did they did not state it). The first episode feels like it should've been the second or third considering there's so little set up about Andrea's history before meeting Rusty. Rusty himself continues to play ambivalent to Andrea's mental health struggles, saying he didn't know what 'psychosis' looked like. Every chance to take accountability he refuses. And the docuseries doesn't push him on it. This series is frustrating at best and infuriating at worst. Stay away. See more The S @The_Stranger Jan 13 So weird and so much to unwrap. But nothing new here. Standard format, interviews and tapes, witnesses and participants bare their souls to the camera with (surprise!) amazing clarity after the fact. First of all, the husband (Yates) absolutely contributed to her illness and what she did. Full stop. Basically ignoring doctors and making the worst possible choices in the name of "religion." Proof positive that cults will cost you everything and that applies more than ever to America right now, which is currently sustaining the world’s largest cult. Keep this film’s message in mind: cults will do whatever it takes (including the ultimate sin) in order to not have to accept that the cult leader is corrupt and evil. Documentary is so-so…the story itself is tragic, crazy and all the more sad because of how avoidable ALL of this was. See more Holly S @HM_Tx Jan 12 These writers are trying to lead you to believe her motive was because of religious reasons, she had postpartum and this documentary is trying to rewrite the narrative. Pathetic. See more Dan C @cinemacriterion Jan 9 Another poorly made documentary from the most exploitative filmmakers of today. The victims of Woroniecki deserve so much better than this. More caring and thoughtful filmmakers could tell this story better. See more Read all reviews
