The Mighty Nein had a pretty tough job: follow The Legend of Vox Machina without feeling like a cheaper sequel with a fresh coat of fantasy paint. Luckily, it mostly pulls it off. The characters are the biggest selling point. They’re messy, selfish, funny, occasionally annoying, and, most importantly, they actually feel like they have lives outside the plot. Caleb gets some of the strongest material, while the group’s chemistry gives even the quieter episodes a reason to stick around. That said, the show isn’t totally free of its own ambitions. The first few episodes throw a ton of lore, factions, magic, and character baggage at you. I shouldn’t have to mentally build a flowchart just to figure out who currently hates whom. The slower pacing does pay off, but getting there can feel like waiting for a D&D party to finally agree on where they’re going. The animation is solid, the action is fun, and the voice cast clearly knows these characters inside and out.

Wow what a great show every bit as good as Vox Machina.. I had my doubts but it is amazing. A completely different view and vine but every bit as good. This is definitely a very talented group of people.

I do enjoy what critical role makes, but my only problem with the show is that every character is a homosexual. Is it really that necessary. I get it if like one character was gay, but the fact that everyone is gay just makes it into some political agenda.

Slow burn, rainbow power, unserious and way overly sexual yet tries to be serious? Few of the storylines that are actually interesting get drown out by the sexual content and poorly written jokes.
