The Other One works best as a blithe character study with underlying compassion. Go to Full Review

It's a show with a loving heart that nevertheless manages to remain witty and fleet, doing a lot with every scene and never wasting a minute. Go to Full Review

The Other One was only a pilot episode but, with such a strong cast and whip-smart script, had plenty of potential for a full series - not least because of a delicious twist in the closing scene. Go to Full Review

A silly, fizzy, witty yet also rather poignant British show. Go to Full Review

Genevieve R @RT55633220 Nov 14 I’m not sure exactly what it is about this series that makes it so special. It could be the superb writing, excellent acting, even that the music featured is truly perfect (Hall & Oates, Todd Rundgren, Supertramp, Simon & Garfunkel and more!) …But this is one show that manages to feature dark humor with the dry British wit that I adore in a surprisingly sweet and even relatable package. The dynamic between "Cathy" (Ellie White) and her newly discovered half sister "Cat" (Lauren Socha), along with the incredibly versatile and dynamic Siobhan Finneran (Marilyn), "Cat’s" mum, is just comic gold. Caroline Quentin as "Auntie Dawn" was also a favorite with many scenes that had me doubled over in laughter! I’ve rewatched this series many times over the years and it never fails to leave me in hysterical laughter from the first episode, and it’s become a sort of a comfort show for me. Truly worth every second of the watch! See more donna k @RT09974567 Apr 8 Really disappointing considering the cast See more Lynne J @RT23008390 03/02/2025 I just love everything about it.
