We’re comparing ten episodes of a brand new sitcom with new characters and new actors, with 201 episodes of a sitcom audiences have etched into their brains. It’s like comparing your childhood best friend to a stranger you’ve just met. Go to Full Review

As a metaphor for people trying to relearn how a functioning world works, it’s useful—but it will need to fine-tune its strings upon the audience’s heart if the parable is ever to broaden its appeal beyond the choir to which it preaches. Go to Full Review
Graeme Blundell The Australian Sep 20
The Paper is droll enough to start, though a bit chaotic, and it will take a while for the actors to fully inhabit their roles. But then so was The Office, and look what happened to that series. Go to Full Review

The Paper has interesting characters and amusing situations — they’re just all in the service of a premise it doesn’t take seriously enough. Go to Full Review

This demonstrates a welcome commitment to the mockumentary format and trades heavily on the juxtaposition between what they characters say and do. Go to Full Review

Alexis L @SpagooterNooter 2d Not as great as the office. Reboots usually never are. The writing and the stories are okay. Some of the characters feel out of place to me. Also very woke. Gleeson has really impressed me as an actor though. Hope to see him in the future. See more Stephen D @RT37880768 6d As a former journalist, I truly believe this world is endlessly ripe for satire, but the first season never quite congealed into something insightful, clever or even particularly funny. Hopefully, the second season allows them to work out some hiccups, but I'm not sure I'm interested enough to keep up. See more Cassie C @Cassiec Aug 4 It took me a couple of episodes, but once the newsroom characters settled in, I was hooked. See more Sherrie G @RT56790953211 Jul 23 It's never going to replace The Office, but once I stopped comparing them, I found it genuinely funny. The mockumentary style still works. See more Sidhardha G @RT92535494 May 25 If you have watched, you would enjoy this so much. It is not as crazy as office. But it is soft and warm at the same time being a realistic news paper company See more Taylor O. @taylorozzo May 23 Not that interesting yet, but the first seasons of every show pretty much sucks, so I’ll keep watching to see if it gets better.
