It’s a story that could only have happened in Los Angeles in the first decade of the 21st century. And, as this engrossing new documentary series shows, it was one that was absolutely bound to happen right then and there. Go to Full Review

Haines and Norgo both are self-aggrandizing in a manner that wears thin after a while; their conflicting memories of who said what to whom more than a decade ago is of only the lightest academic interest.. Go to Full Review

The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist is a story that could maybe only happen in Hollywood in the 21st century. But the show tells it pretty well. Go to Full Review

We got nothing from this breed of true-crime retrofitting -- feeding off the prestige of the movie and the celebrity involved, it just gives the attention-hungry more of what they crave: their faces on millions of screens and some cash in their pocket. Go to Full Review

If you like tabloid TV you might find The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist amusing. But if you're looking for new discoveries or fresh details about the crimes that were committed, you won't find it here. Go to Full Review

The Real Bling Ring doesn’t quite glamorise its shady subjects in the way that The Wolf of Wall Street did, but it doesn’t make any radical observations about the decline of culture either. Go to Full Review

David F @dfulmer 09/25/2023 This appears to be the true story of the Bling Ring from the Bling Ring members themselves. Has a confessional tone, although the members of the ring themselves don't seem to agree on how it all went down. Including the perspective of some of the victims, this is a well-rounded re-telling of the famous home burglaries of the famous. I liked how the documentary makers left some things open and tried to present the different perspectives without coming to a definitive conclusion.
