In this season, Daryl and Carol continue their journey, exploring the remains of a devastated and eerily quiet London before moving on to Spain, specifically the town of Solaz del Mar. There, they encounter compelling new characters who leave a lasting mark on them and whom they help in resisting a macabre and abusive monarchic society. The series continues its exploration of how major cities have been reshaped by the walker apocalypse, and this perspective remains fresh and engaging. The writers craft a storyline that delves into Spanish history and culture in an intriguing way, largely avoiding heavy-handed stereotypes. That said, some costume choices feel questionable, as if Spain had been transported back to the nineteenth century. The climax is satisfying, and although the long-promised return home is delayed once again, the season succeeds in introducing strong new characters who earn their place within the group. In this one we see Daryl go through a character arc where he comes to terms with his decision of helping people and his journey. He eventually does help. It also shows Daryl at his most emotional. A spaghetti western style, Spanish culture, and lots of emotional beats is what you will get with this third season. Not to mention that cliffhanger style ending we get with Codron being shown.
