They all loved it and we were thrilled when the author, Andrew Peterson, did a nightly reading on Facebook Live that year. Shortly after, he announced the animated series. The story has a distinctly Tolkienesque style but is still mild enough for a young elementary student to enjoy. Has spiritual elements that are relatable with Christianity, but doesn't knock you over the head with them or try to mimic any one religion explicitly. The animation is up-to-date with current techniques and doesn't just scream computer animation, although some of that is used I'm sure. We think this fabulous series about treating your family AS special, is about as special as they come! This is a truly different and memorable experience and one that surprisingly grabbed each member of my family just as strongly, albeit for different reasons. My daughter loved the wonderful world-crafting and the beautiful soundtrack. My son was captivated by the unique animation style. I was surprised how fantastically fresh the plot line was, my wife pulled in by those instantly loveable characters, and both of us were thrilled by the strong family-first themes.
