Critic Reviews for Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas Season 1

All Critics (9) | Top Critics (6)

What sets Problem Areas apart from many of its news/comedy counterparts is its ongoing look at a single issue: policing in America.

May 18, 2018 | Full Review…

While the show - done without an audience - contains plenty of jokes, the mission and the research are serious...while the jokes don't disappear, the policing segment starts. It's a promising format.

May 14, 2018 | Full Review…

Problem Areas instead provokes sighs of disgust. The show is acutely aware of its smallness and impotence. Notably, much of its non-law-enforcement material concerns, directly or otherwise, impending environmental disasters.

May 31, 2018 | Full Review…

Most importantly, it's interested in answering questions that too often are ignored.

May 17, 2018 | Full Review…

[Wyatt] Cenac is a major talent, and there's no reason to think this program won't get stronger as it goes along.

Apr 17, 2018 | Full Review…

An almost solemn mission, but Problem Areas is full of the self-possessed humor Cenac's honed in his stand-up act and time in front of a Comedy Central green screen.

Apr 13, 2018 | Rating: B+ | Full Review…

Wyatt Cenac's Problem Areas gives a comic a platform to get serious about issues that concern him, but in essence should concern us all.

Aug 28, 2018 | Full Review…

Host's relaxed vibe is a welcome alternative in late night.

Apr 26, 2018 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

Problem Areas isn't interested in telling you what to think, it's interested in making you think.
