Christopher Tyng is a TV, film, and video game composer best known for writing the introduction theme to the animated sci-fi sitcom "Futurama." Tyng apprenticed under famed film and TV composer Basil Poledouris before earning his first scoring gigs on low-budget sci-fi and horror films in the 1990s. Tyng made the jump to primetime TV with original music for sitcoms such as the short-lived Denis Leary vehicle "The Job" and the critically-bashed series "The Michael Richards Show." But Tyng's crowning achievement remains his instantly memorable theme music for the Matt Groening-created series "Futurama," a driving, percussion-driven tune that uses as its basis a melodic motif from "Psyché Rock," a 1967 single by French musique concrete composer Pierre Henry and film score arranger Michel Colombier. Following that catchy success, Tyng went on to write theme music for such popular shows as the teen soap "The O.C." and another Denis Leary vehicle, "Rescue Me."
