Biography:
I started doing film reviews while a student at H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, Florida. I got a great deal of help from Tampa Times movie guru Steve Otto. I moved to Baltimore in 1982 and, on a whim, purchased a chance to attend a movie with then Baltimore Sun film critic Stephen Hunter from a PBS sponsored auction. The movie was "Beastmaster." Not the best, but the lunch and discussion afterwards was more then memorable. More then 20 years later, I'm proud to still think of Stephen as a friend and mentor. He is currently reviewing films for the Washington Post and recently won the Pulitzer Prize for criticism!

3/5 No Score Yet Clyde Cooper (2018) The script, by director Daskaloff, gives Cooper some nice throw-away lines and it's a credit to Vilasuso's talent that he comes off as a well intentioned wise ass instead of a boor. - MediaMikes EDIT

3.5/5 23% The Happytime Murders (2018) A fun combination of live-action and puppets, "The Happytime Murders" is an outrageously raunchy look at what life may have been like on a certain "Street" if that show had taken place in the worse part of the worse town ever. - MediaMikes EDIT

2/5 46% The Meg (2018) To steal (and paraphrase) from Woody Allen in "Annie Hall," a film is like a shark. It has to keep on moving or it will die. And what we're dealing with here...is a dead shark. - MediaMikes EDIT

3/5 69% Ocean's 8 (2018) ...makes this film pale against Clooney's "Ocean" trilogy. Heck, even the great 60s version with Frank Sinatra was more fun. The difference is that those films had set characters that did not act the same - MediaMikes EDIT

2/5 92% Love, Simon (2018) I've heard this film described as a "John Hughes" - type film. Barely. Though Hughes did spend a lot of his time writing about teenagers, their problems and how they dealt with them, his characters were a hell of a lot more believable. - MediaMikes EDIT
