Movie Posters is enjoyable and informative, especially if you have a yen for the subject as I do. Kevin Burke's entertaining film is primarily about the renaissance of posters and its artists who don't restrict themselves to standard sizes Go to Full Review

The film is well done and informative, but this reviewer found herself wanting them to dig deeper into the original poster art, the painted posters, maybe get interviews with painters that are currently working ... Go to Full Review

It's a tough grade here, as I like some of 24X36 a lot, but overall feel it's a missed opportunity. In the end, I think 2.5/5 burritos is fair enough. Go to Full Review

Steve C 09/21/2024 Cool stuff. I don't understand the mindset of the studios calling the shots. They think that people will mistake a movie done in art as an animated movie??? Haven't these people heard of movie trailers??? How stupid do they think we are? See more Simon T @Bucksplit 02/03/2021 Moderately interesting overview of the ever-changing art of the movie poster, leaning rather too heavily on the recent growth of alternative artists and design studios. There is legitimate criticism of the boring photo-montage type promotional one-sheets that infect every multiplex, but not enough history, and not enough coverage of the great poster artists of the 60s, 70s and 80s. Still, for anyone with even a passing interest this will serve as a good primer. See more 12/30/2018 A fun insight into nerd culture and movie posters! Made me want more wall space. See more 07/06/2017 excellent most enjoyable and interesting See more 05/18/2017 I knew nothing about movie posters until I saw this movie - including how interesting the history is. I was pleasantly surprised. The art is spectacular, the culture is unique and the story was really well told. I highly recommend. See more 04/09/2017 I saw this at the Cleveland International Film Festival 2016. I'm fascinated by any documentary about the movie industry. This behind the scenes look at the history of movie posters and the many unrecognized artists who created posters before photographic designs became the norm since the 80s is entertaining. Many of the talking heads are current artists from the company Mondo, which releases new collectible hand drawn movie posters for recent and classic films. The history is interesting, and comparing the studio habit of unoriginal marketing materials for the last 40 years to the unique art work done by hand at Mondo recently is thrilling in a way. A peak at an unsung art form. See more Read all reviews
