Red in D @redindenver Jun 13 WTF! This movie was all over the place. Before the plot 'twist', I was saying to myself, why hasn't the mother put Vera into a mental hospital. Or, at the very least, why hasn't the mother gotten her out of that house? Then AFTER the plot twist, why are Vera and Beth STAYING in that house? This movie was just to fantastic for me to do my usual "suspension of logical thinking" when watching movies, especially horror movies. So I must admit that I didn't finish watching this movie ... just too much illogical silliness (what is it with the dolls???) for me. And, perhaps even worse than that -- I am NOT entertained by watching the sadistic torture of anyone, especially children. I began to quickly realise that I was not watching my usual escapism of a horror, it definitely took me back to Texas chain saw massacre and the wrong turn. I found the pot twist good but all in all pushing the boundaries with sexual torture of females which I found hard to stomach. Definitely shocked me , definitely had me scared but overall just felt physically sick after watching. Disgusting play on perverted child themes and grotesque kidnap fantasies. The psychological plot twist did give it merit though.
