Feb 3, 2016 Doesn't try very hard to be balanced, or particularly revealing in the sense of an expose. It is quite insightful on the role of extended family, friends and acquaintances in the subject's community standing. Makes a depressing topic easily watchable and surprisingly interesting and informative. See more May 7, 2015 In one hand this does perfectly to destroy the Hollywood myth of cool, suave, rich gangsters; instead showing their poor, uneducated, tragic and seemingly inherent lives in a dull, almost comical sense. See more Sep 14, 2011 I don't doubt the validity and strength of Noonan and the family: they're clearly triple hard bastards. Yet despite the influence and the underground success, Noonan doesn't have much to show for his efforts - he seems content to take tribute in the form of Full English Breakfasts or a free pint in the local. Perhaps it's because his 'territories' are so poor. Perhaps it is because his moon is on the wane. But in a world of gangsters killing other gangsters and prison an accepted inevitability, I would expect Noonan to aspire to more. As it stands he drives forlornly around in his knackered old cop-car arbitrating local disputes like an underground social worker.
