Movie Info

In this animated film, Charlie Barkin (Charlie Sheen) is finding life in dog heaven a little dull. Even after his best pal, Itchy (Dom DeLuise), arrives in town, Charlie still longs to go back to Earth. When Charlie's old nemesis, Carface (Ernest Borgnine), steals the horn used by the archangel Gabriel, Charlie and Itchy quickly volunteer to retrieve it. Back on the planet, while scrambling to outwit Carface and get the horn, Charlie meets an alluring pooch named Anabelle (Bebe Neuwirth).

    While it retained some of the darker side that made the first such an original and personal childhood favorite of mine, the overall feel that made the first special was gone. Not to say that certain parts didn't tug at you and some seemed to mesh okay, but several factors hindered it. The pure absurdity of the plot is something I can usually negate because well it's an animated film or a movie in general, but things were just pointless and thrown together. The source elements of the film as well as the transfer itself were cheaply thrown together and slapped on a Blu-ray disc unfortunately. Granted I expected this but it didn't help an already lifeless and down in the dumps film with it's animated characters moving around in, what my friend Brad called, an oil canvas painting. While I know much much older films that use this in background shots, the whole film was done in this way except characters and it made a further disconnect. I'd stick to the original for sure.

    the only thing that keeps you watching is the villain, he was just so interesting to watch, other than him theres not much else to keep you watching

    "To be honest I was bored to tears watching this movie. It wasn't cute and it wasn't a film I will remember. Nothing in it stood out for me. The kids didn't even care for it. They kept pointing out all the mistakes in the film. For instance, the dog collar that made them un-invisible would be on the dogs in one scene and then gone in another. Just a poorly made film that could have been better if not for the sloppiness. The film tried to give out a good message but it was missed in all the things that were wrong in the film. If there is too much bad, it's hard to focus on the good. Pass on it or see it if you loved the first enough."
