Eugene I @RT07338969 Apr 25 Desperately needed a better studio audience. Most of Matt Friend's humor fell flat with them which seemed to make him nervous. The interviews were virtual and there was a slight hesitation in communication which also only seemed to add to Friend's discomfort. The impression parade was fantastic but by then the performer already seemed more tense and stiff, which is unfortunate because he is very funny. Overall, this Special needed a more live sympathetic environment for the performer and perhaps a little less attempt for polish and control in the studio, a little less makeup. Not a bad Special, but not as funny as it would have been had the performer been more comfortable. See more Read all reviews
