It's Groundhog Day except Bill Murray's character never learns anything and dooms himself to an eternity of living in Punxsutawney.

'Edge of Tomorrow' was WAY better done, but there is enough difference here (hey, other people can recall the loops too!) that this could have been a decent flick. Unfortunately, the thing kind of bogs down in its own contradictions, and the film is without any kind of resolution at all. I think the writers were thinking way bigger than whatever budget let the filmmakers get as far as they did.

A good premise, with elements of near-apocalyptic societal breakdown brought on by a virus, ensuing crises related to the same, and a piece of tech set to save the world... Yep, it's familiar. Add in a time loop factor, and the story's familiarity increases somehow, whilst at the same time steering itself away from those that have come before it.

Arq is set somewhere in the near future where the worlds energy supplies have ran dry causing wars around the globe. One man is in hiding working on a new limitless energy supply, a technology that the warring factions will do anything to control. When a group of masked men break into his house, leading to his death moments later, he wakes up again at the start of the day, finding himself stuck in a time loop and it soon becomes apparent that an unwanted side effect of this new tech is fixing the people in the building in a never ending time loop. Arq was one of the first movies Netflix made when they started making their own films. With this in mind it perhaps does seem a little more low budget than some of their more recent efforts. Despite this, it is still an entertaining set up, as the lead starts to gain time before each reset as he learns more about the environment around him and who the masked raiders are in his home. It's basically a sci-fi thriller spin on Groundhog Day. An entertaining watch if you're into time based thrillers.

Good movie. Loved it. Story needs a sequel or trilogy to be completed.

Actually the film is really good, it is a good representation of time wraps, and some level on indeterminacy, as the loops progress the variations on the story start to appear, the characters start to have deja vu and re-plan the next move on the sequence, very clever.

This film can be described in two main words: boring and repetitive. And this happens because it's all the same and very obvious, there are a few sluggish twists that do not enrich at all the plot or the action on screen, for this reason you can watch the first and the last ten minutes of the film and you can still understanding the film and sparing the boredom of the plot
