Racecar Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and his tow-truck buddy, Mater (Larry the Cable Guy), have had their share of adventures together but nothing like what they experience when they head overseas for the first-ever World Grand Prix. While Lightning has his eye on the road to the championship, Mater takes a detour to international espionage when he meets British master spy Finn McMissile (Michael Caine) and stunning spy-in-training Holley Shiftwell (Emily Mortimer).

Critics Consensus

Cars 2 is as visually appealing as any other Pixar production, but all that dazzle can't disguise the rusty storytelling under the hood.

The trouble with stuffing too much into a film quickly becomes evident in Cars 2, as the plotlines tumble and collide with each other creating, mostly, cacophony. Go to Full Review

Don't tell the kids, but Santa Claus isn't real and Pixar is fallible. Go to Full Review

It is all quite jolly and fast-paced, a feast for the eyes, but there's not much for the mind or the heart. Go to Full Review

Cars 2 gives us a fun James Bond-style brainless plot that flat out entertains. Go to Full Review

It may not live up to the usual sophistication associated with the animation studio, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad film. Go to Full Review

Daniel M 8h Honestly is a very fun random film in this Cars universe. I admit upon initially seeing this in theatres long ago, it wasn’t as enjoyable. Yet that likely was having some sort of expectation upon the original film. Regardless my tastes in film and life have significantly evolved since those many many years ago. This film is refreshing to see and just fun. I don’t need to watch it again and again. And that is what I think it was. Cars the original is something easy to rewatch again and again. It is a classic. This film isn’t a classic. So it doesn’t necessarily have the same type of rewatch ability. It does though have simply more ridiculousness and unique characters and just fun story going on. It’s for a different type of mood or vibe of rewatch ability. Overall it’s fun to see a great fun film made in different ways by a studio whether it is a sequel or an original or whatnot. See more Luke V @RT06723071 1d Cars 2 is the GOAT. I love how this movie is centered around Mater, instead of Lightning McQueen. This is the only Cars film to not have Lightning as the lead character. It has John Lasseter return from the first film to direct a masterpiece. And also Micheal Giacchino’s score, which changed everything in my head! Cars is definitely the GOAT! See more Kit K @kitthebug 2d PEAK (only watch if ur ready for something different from the other cars movies) its magnificent absolutely spectacular words can not describe how much i loved this movie 10/10 movie absolutely amazing See more Tina W @RT11405789 2d Funny Hilarious and enjoyable See more Aws R @RT87563844 Aug 15 THE BEST OF THE SERIES!
This is not a Cars film but a James Bond one😅,
I loved the spy scenes and the a story is so enjoyable. The little racing does disappoint a little bit but the racing we got was still amazing. The action, the thrill and everything else was just magnificent. Overall it’s a 9.5/10.
