Whimsical tale of three friends navigating university life, rushing hormones, and biblical sins. Entrancing story that keeps you engaged. Early film for several of today's leading actors: Colin Firth, Chris O'Donnell, and Minnie Driver.
If you like coming-of-age films, this one is great. 'Circle' follows three girlfriends from Confirmation through university. Minnie Driver is wonderful as Benny, the plain one. It is also interesting to see these actors - Minnie, Chris O'Donnell, Colin Firth, etc. in early roles in their careers.
i liked this well enough, it was fairly well portrayed, all characters were likable. I loved that it was set in Ireland, and Cumming's performance was superb. but the story and the rest of it were pretty run of the mill, nothing really risked, i didn't feel a great deal of anything for it. good mom/daughter fluff piece to watch on your day off.
well crafted rom-dram
BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!!!
Good plot. But anticlimactic, with melodramatic acting (except Minnie Driver.)
Circle Of Friends is a feel good film. Good story & good acting. Well worth seeing. 4 stars from me.
One of my favourite movies of all time
great acting, great drama about a group of female friends living in the Celtic 1950's
Minnie Driver and Chris O' Donnell make a very interesting pair
these girls are raised Catholic by nuns in a convent but wish to break away from the strict rules and traditions laid out for them
Bernadette wants to find love even if it means going against her parents' wishes of instead marrying a sniveling weasel like Alan Cumming
the Irish landscape is beautiful and the exceptional writing makes this a joy to watch and sit back to
all of the girls know what they want to stay happy while also making tough decisions
it's a coming-of-age movie that doesn't toy around
Circle of Friends is an excellent film. It is about the coming-of-age story that follows three childhood friends from a small town in Ireland as they head to Dublin to attend Trinity College. Chris O'Donnell and Minnie Driver give amazing performances. The screenplay is well written. Pat O'Connor did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama and romance.
