Great. Captivating and engaging performances from a superb cast
Out side of the love story they jammed into a war film, its pretty good.
Brilliant story line but (as the critics said) the love story seems to far out of place
The sniper scenes are great. The love triangle not so much.
Canï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)t believe this film rated so lowly with critics. Love the film. Iï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)ve seen it multiple times and it never gets old. Great sets, acting, music is outstanding (sounds sort of like Glory). The dialogue near the end about inequality even in a communist country is writing at itï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)s finest.
The opening is extremely violent but seems historically accurate. So a love element was thrown in? So what? That tied the story together with the dialogue and character motive at the end.
I didnï¿ 1/2 1/2 1/2(TM)t realize this was supposed to be a historical documentary. Have on dvd but will likely buy Blu-ray.
gripping and intense movie
great action scenes
fantastic acting, but some characters felt a bit too cliche
overall storyline was good
could have done better in terms of historical accuracy, but still a good movie to watch
Death, propaganda, mud, terror. That is all this movie needs, and if not for the out-of-nowhere romance than it would?(TM)ve reached great levels of war immersion.
I always thought this film would be better if you never even see the German sniper until the end. It would just be from Vasili’s perspective and would’ve been much more riveting. Unnecessary love story and characters. Movie misses it’s mark completely.
Ah, Stalingrad, Hitler's greatest folly. This film certainly has its moments but it feels slighter than other WWII films and the romance angle is certainly overplayed. It is still moving and effective in places but there are more worthwhile films out there that depict the true horrors of war.
