...not me, I don't want any. Zoey Deutch was the lone bright-spot. I don't know why I was supposed to care about any of these characters.
The story is mediocre at best, but the familiar cast and screenplay compensates for it. It's a good film for casual viewing, I'd recommend.
A deeply nostalgic and romantic view of baseball bromance, featuring no doubt the least chauvinist and macho college team in history, Linklater turns the (his) male gaze towards male bodies, a dialectical reflection with the hint that what underlies collegiate and fraternal debauchery is less a desire for sex than for deeper kinship—everybody wants some (!!), indeed.
This is one of my favourite genres in film. The one where nothing really happens, but you are being entertained nonetheless. The point of this movie is to give one a glimpse of what college life in the 80s was like, and it succeeded. Good movie to watch on a easy Sunday.
If you liked Dazed and Confused, this will satisfy you. Although just not quite that good.
No, I didn't want anything from this film! It is obnoxious and immature and was a huge letdown. Richard Linklater captured the seventies brilliantly with Dazed and Confused, but this film has nothing to offer. It starts to pick up a little at end, but by then the film is done.
Linklater at his best with making a film with just dialog and not much much of a plot but it works really with the spirited sequel to Dazed and Confused
A slice of life film with absolutely no narrative but enough charm and quirk to keep one watching.
Linklater's talent shines again in this nostalgia inducing romp!
