Lazy filmaking at its best, really poor stuff.
I like the idea of Americans partying and trying to get laid. and not paying attention to the dangerous world around them. I also like the idea that there is dangerous Aristocrats that plot against normal people. I believe the horrible aristocrats that plot against normal people do exist. I like the fact that in the movie the people have no Christianity, and the world they have created is a nightmare.
I hate to admit that it was a bit slow moving, but the acting, idea, and atmosphere were awesome.
I think the movie deserves more praise than it gets. its well shot has good acting, and the story and script are more or less good as well. That ending in my opinion really soured the movie though, it just felt out of character to me.
Horrible waste of time!
Quinton Tarantino's mind is something else. This movie freaked me out. This makes me never want to travel over seas, never will i stay in a hostel.
The things nightmares are made of. If your a fan of the Saw franchise then this is a movie you'll probably like. It doesn't lack on the gore.
This movie in the first half had me very bored, but holy crap that second half made up for it big time. At the beginning you seem to not care for the rowdy and inconsiderate trio of characters, yet by the end you're rooting for them. Great gore, great acting, and great suspense. Hostel is a great horror film if you can get past the softcore porn in the beginning.
It's pointless, absolutely pointless and nasty and not enjoyable.
Though rather low budget-appearing and with a typical torture theme, this movie explores the dark possibilities of tourist kidnapping. Taking the urge to kill and providing a place for people to carry out such instinct, Hostel allows no escape for the victims. For how can one reason with sadistic pleasure offered up so easily?
There is enough ugliness in the world, to not have to create ideas of more.
