S B Mar 10 I stopped at a pageant agent reminiscing of days gone when standards of beauty required the girls to...."lift their hair to see if they had elephant ears".......same old balding man (people in glass houses and all that) screaming at the other agents to get real, when judging a current round of contestants, because one of the girls had a "huge a$%!!", inferring that she should not be there.....???!!!???.....yeah, and they're all baffled as to why no one is interested in this kind of archaic pageantry anymore??????? See more Gabriele L Feb 27 I watched "Miss Italia non deve morire" ("Miss Italy Must Not Die") hoping to see a profound analysis of how a historic institution could reinvent itself, but I was deeply disappointed. The documentary reveals, perhaps unintentionally, everything that doesn't work in the current management of the pageant: inadequate communication, questionable managerial choices, and values completely disconnected from contemporary society. Particularly disturbing was seeing Patrizia Mirigliani speak with unsettling casualness about the abuse suffered by a contestant, treating the incident as simple communication material. This scene truly made my skin crawl. The title is ironically appropriate: yes, perhaps Miss Italy shouldn't die, but it's certainly time to pass the torch to a team under 50 years old, capable of understanding that the values of the average Italian have changed and that the concept of beauty has evolved.
