Movie Info

Madoka Kaname has changed the world. In this new world, is what the magical girls see a world of hope... or despair? Featuring a brand new story written by Gen Urobuchi (Fate/Zero, Psycho Pass) of Nitroplus, the original storyline begins after the events of Part 2: Eternal. With an all new story and original animation set for the big screen, there is no doubt that the movie will provide a new experience for both fans who have enjoyed the previous movies, and those who are just seeing Madoka Magica for the first time. Audience Reviews for Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Rebellion

Even pain is precious to me. Madoka Kaname sacrificed herself at the end of the previous film in this series to prevent other little girls from having to become magic girls that fight witches. Her sacrifice turned her into a god of sorts that has lost her memories of her former self. However, her acts did not prevent evil on Earth and she may need to bring magic girls back to stop the evil and regain her memories. "You're the one that seems the most odd to me." Three directors collaborate to deliver the final film in this series. The storyline was just okay in this film and the animation had too many cheesy anime animation moments and not enough of the great action sequences that were in the previous two pictures. The action sequences were uneven. "Fighting nightmares is not supposed to be fun." I came across these on Netflix and decided to add them to the queue. This was just okay and I was a bit disappointed this was not as good as the previous films in the series. Overall, this is worth a viewing if you're a fan of the genre but far from a classic, must see anime feature. "Memories are so annoying." Grade: C+

~MILD/SUBTLE SPOILERS BELOW~ Though I did not find it quite as magnificent as the series itself, in part due to having been spoiled about what happens to the main character by the end and in part due to the slightly convoluted plot after the big reveal, all in all the film still delivered at and beyond expectations through its narrative, plot twists, suspense, character development, animation. Only docked half a star for the unsatisfying ending and my inability to identify and appreciate the film's themes, narrative techniques and deeper in-universe implications. Will update after second viewing.

I loved the tv series and all the movie sequels. This series and this movie has the best twists and turns, it leaves you breathless and wanting more. I even want a fourth movie. I highly recommend both the movies and the tv series,
