Critic Reviews for Snowpiercer
That rare experience you don't get to have much in the summer anymore, a loud, clanging, original action flick that's grabbing you by the lapels and yelling in your ears.
It's a wicked, violent parable, and one of the only movies of the summer worth talking about after the credits roll.
Fueled by implausibility, and for a good portion of the ride much better for it, Bong-Joon Ho's Snowpiercer posits a nonstop, Earth-encircling train containing the microcosmic survivors of a society killed off by a global warming-induced deep freeze.
Once Mr. Bong sets his monorail in motion the movie assumes an irresistible momentum, accelerated by nonstop mayhem, gallows humor and an immersive visual style that possesses a heady sense of the steam-punk Apocalypse.
Audience Reviews for Snowpiercer
An enormously thought-provoking allegory that suggests a terrifying price necessary to keep the capitalist system machine functioning at full speed in a post-apocalyptic society confined in a moving train - and it is always a pleasure to see a thrilling story that makes us think.
A very unique action Sci-Fi-film that is unlike anything you've seen before. The unpredictable plot and fascinating location already make sure of that but the outstanding look adds another layer of oddness. The sudden bursts of violence are almost physically hurting for the spectator, yet you can't look away from this fascinating and challenging film.
Ugh! Despair, Depression and Hopelessness all served up in 80% darkness. What kind of entertainment is that? None would be the answer. A very few beautiful visual is not enough to compensate for the endless gloom.
