Movie Info

In a small town, Minta (Dorothy Peterson) and Jim Hagen (Charles Kemper) bring home an adopted baby; at the same time, a mysteriously ill socialite returns home from an unnamed location. Town gossips believe the Hagens' child is that of the socialite and her old boyfriend, Tom Bates (Ronald Reagan). Tom's guardian sends him away, but years later Tom returns when the child, Mary (Shirley Temple), enters college, and he learns that she has been harassed all her life for her shadowy background.
