Movie Info

The beautiful star of a popular French stage play becomes terribly depressed when a suitor she spurned (because he was married) commits suicide. She decides to visit America to recuperate. This romantic drama chronicles what happens when she coincidentally rents a home next door to a handsome novelist whose sister is the wife of the recently deceased man. The actress and the writer fall in love, and when she finds out his sister's identity, she tells him about the situation. Apparently she doesn't tell him everything, for he becomes enraged and abandons her. Later the widowed sister returns home and tells the author the rest of the tale. Suddenly he knows that he misjudged the actress. Quickly he races back to be beside her and a happy ending follows.

Critic Reviews for The Forbidden Woman

  • [A] recommendation comes because of certain partially redeeming features of the feature film, The Forbidden Woman, in which Clara Kimball Young gives moments of pleasure, but which fails at the end to bring any great amount of satisfaction as a whole.
