Jody C @JodyCazz 1d This movie was....interesting. It was well acted and well made. It did the job that was intended by the producer for sure. However this is a supreme example of the old "deep horror" experience. Its all symbolism and metaphor. Hell even a character tells us that during a tense scene. It actually seems to be an ode to an ancient myth about Iphigenia which I find cool. I say all that to say that this was a supremely boring and pointless movie. All the characters talk flat to showcase their out of touch and boring life and design despite their "lovely" and successful life. Well received, but at the end there is no pay off, or exciting ending or proper explanations. If you go in blind you will be missing pieces of important explanatory information until you youtube some video breaking it all down. It just ends up being a pointless, non scary, weird showcase of deep horror and symbolism and I just couldnt care less after its all said and done. Scare Factor: 1/10. I have a theory around who and what Martin is. I believe him to be a shaman slowly integrating himself into Murphy's world to summon karmic retribution for his wrongdoings of the past. Murphy is a dark soul who has been responsible for many abuses, including the sexual abuse of his own children and others, the death of multiple "patients" and the rape of many. His past is not fully explored in the film, but you can sense the energetics of his dark past. The accuracy of my new theory makes the film's shocking ending more palatable and somewhat enjoyable.
